Today Jules has a super fun challenge for us at Seize the Birthday - no stamping! I feel like I can do no stamping without thinking about it but when I have to think about it - feels like way more pressure (LOL). I decided to just focus on the sentiment and pull out some alcohol inks.

magnificent metallics
Ashwini has picked the theme of metallics for our Seize the Birthday challenge this time around. My first card was completely different and didn't I didn't love it. So I went back to one of my standby techniques - alcohol inks. Much happier with this.

regal red
I was over the moon when I saw JoAnn's theme for this week's Seize the Birthday challenge. It's RED! It's my favourite colour. I went very CAS so the red would shine - the splotches remind me a bit of flower petals. The sentiment is one I love but haven't used it for a while. Hope you like what I've come up with.

spectacular shapes
The latest challenge at Seize the Birthday is shape cards, courtesy of JoAnn. I pulled out my rarely used hexagon dies for this card. It's a great way to use an alcohol ink panel that was sitting around.

make it pop!
The Seize the Birthday Challenge this week, courtesy of Ashwini, is make it pop! I popped up my die cut sentiment using some alcohol ink letters.

drinks & inks
Happy April everyone! Hope all is well. Here on the west coast of Canada it is mostly feeling/looking like spring although I would always be happy with warmer temperatures.
Our topping at Seize the Birthday this week is alcohol, courtesy of Shirley - this can be alcohol inks or alcohol images or both! I did both :). I've used these dies a lot - thought they were perfect for this challenge. The embossing folder is a relatively new acquisition for me and I quite like it. This is also one of those cards that is a random size - I sized the card to fit the design, rather than other way around.

love for Lindsey
Well, this is the hardest post I've ever had to write. My friend, and fellow Seize the Birthday teammate, Lindsey Martin-Penny has passed away from cancer. I'm absolutely gutted that this beautiful shining light, with all of her sass, humour, realness and kindness, is gone. I was so fortunate to be able to meet Lindsey in person a few times and share some meals and laughs with her and her husband. In her last few days, I was sending her little videos from the beach (and maybe some photos of cocktails from my recent birthday party) and even when she was so sick, she had her love of life and sense of humour out in full force. She will be so missed by so many people and she'll always have a place in my heart.

beautiful butterflies
We are playing with another spring theme over at Seize the Birthday this weekend. Nancy picked butterflies or hummingbirds. I don't have any hummingbirds in my crafty stash so butterflies it is! I love my Concord & 9th butterfly die. I used it with an alcohol ink panel... and I liked it so much that I decided to make two. Let me know your favourite.

cheers to green
Time for another Seize the Birthday challenge and JoAnn has picked a green & white theme. Perfect for St. Patrick's Day and the arrival of spring in the northern hemispheres. I thought I would go very celebratory with my card this week. Playing with my alcohol inks again (it's become a bit of a habit!).

ornate ocean creatures
Those who know me well won't be surprised that I picked the Seize the Birthday challenge for this week. I have a love for all things ocean so picked ocean creatures. Another thing that shouldn't be a surprise is that I've been playing with my alcohol inks again. This was not the first try at this background (I go through a lot of Yupo paper - need to find it in bulk for cheap!) but I'm really happy with how it turned out. The jellies are done with shimmer paper but it's hard to tell.

piece of cake
Happy Thursday crafty friends. Can't believe it's October tomorrow! Months just seem to fly by right now. Autumn is firmly entrenched here.... even though it's not my favourite season, I'm still enjoying the fresh air and the beautiful colours.
Shirley has picked our Seize the Birthday challenge this week - cakes! I recently got this new cake set from Reverse Confetti and decided to make a bit of a whacky cake.
Hope you have a terrific day and a wonderful weekend!

sassy stripes
We are playing with stripes at Seize the Birthday this week (courtesy of Vicki). I love stripes and normally I would use striped patterned paper (because I have a lot of it). However, I had been wanting to try this technique from my friend Cheiron. Cheiron loves rainbows so decide to do rainbow alcohol inks in her honour. The stripes speak for themselves so kept the rest of the card clean and simple.

furry friends
Happy Thursday friends! This week at Seize the Birthday we are doing furry creatures this week! Thanks to Cathy for this challenge. I confess - I have very few furry creatures in all of my stamps. So I pulled out a less obvious furry creature - a unicorn! Hope that still counts. Nothing says unicorn like rainbows and glitter so I went all in!

stunning spring
Hope you are well! I'm very happy because the warm temperatures have finally started to arrive here - hope they stick around. It perfectly ties in with our theme at Seize the Birthday this week - spring flowers. Thank you TaeEun for the challenge (she always has the most amazing floral cards so this is very appropriate for her challenge!). Grabbed an alcohol ink background for this otherwise CAS card.

whole lotta hearts
Welcome to February friends! Everyone I've been talking to this week says "where did February go?". I am in agreement - January seemed to fly by even though I don't feel like I did much. Struggling a bit with pandemic fatigue... really itching to get on an airplane jet off to far away lands. It's been too long... just trying to be patient and keep myself busy with reading, exercise and video chats!
So in honour of February, we are playing with hearts over at Seize the Birthday. The theme is courtesy of our fearless and amazing leader Nancy! I love using hearts (especially since I don't make Valentine's Day cards) for birthday cards and 'miss you' cards. When I first envisioned this card, the hearts were going to be running the same way as the alcohol ink. However, when I started building it, I decided it looked much better with them being oriented in opposite directions. What do you think? Now wondering if I should have put some bling on it.... oh well. This card is pretty CAS and didn't take long to put together. Which is exactly how I like it... remind me to tell you about the card I made for the next Seize the Birthday challenge. It was quite the opposite to this one as far as how long it took... "insert eye roll here"

Case Me a Christmas Card with Michelle Lupton
Happy December! I'm honoured and excited that fellow science nerd and card maker Michelle Lupton invited me back again this year for some Christmas card fun. I have lots of Christmas cards left over from previous years so won't be making any new ones to send... but it's always but to play around with my Christmas crafty goodies.

radiant rainbows
It's a cheerful day over at Seize the Birthday! We are all about rainbows this week. I love bold and bright colours so this is right up my alley! I recently got into alcohol inks (I know - really late to the party) so have been doing a lot of mucking around. Still need to practice some more but happy with how this one turned out.
