It's another crafty Thursday for the Seize the Birthday team. Nancy has chosen repetitive die cuts and I *might* have bought this new die with this card in mind. ;) I must confess that I just LOVE how this turned out and sent to a good friend whose birthday was yesterday. (I did NOT love all of the gluing that was involved though - lol). The leaves are patterned paper and the colour on the petals is just some quickly brushed Distressed Oxide ink.

Lindsey's Legacy Hop
Welcome to those who've come from Tracey's blog....
Today, we are hopping in memory of our dear friend and fellow cardmaker, Lindsey Martin-Penny, who sadly passed away last year from a rare and aggressive form of ovarian cancer.
September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and Lindsey’s husband Burke thought it would be a great time to sell off her many craft supplies, with all of the proceeds going towards Lindsey’s Legacy Fund for Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer Research in cooperation with The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
The purpose of this hop will be to honour Lindsey, celebrate her life and all that she loved, as well as help spread the word to raise funds for clear cell ovarian cancer research. You can help in one of several ways!
Color Hues - Lindsey's Legacy Hop
Hey crafty friends,
Today, I'm honoured to be joining a very special challenge with the team at Color Hues!
In conjunction with their normal colour challenge, The Color Hues Design Team and a few guests (like me), from our sister challenge Seize the Birthday, are participating in a Blog Hop!
Collectively as a team, we are hopping in memory of our dear friend, fellow card maker, and Design Team member, Lindsey Martin-Penny, who sadly passed away last year from a rare and aggressive form of ovarian cancer.
The purpose of this hop will be to honor Lindsey, celebrate her life and all that she loved, as well as spread the word to raise funds for Clear Cell Ovarian Cancer Research.
How can you Help? You can find all the fabulous details and the start of the hop HERE!
In honor of Lindsey, the team has created a variety of cards using her favourite colour combo of Purple and Red. (I love these colours too!) Lindsey was a team mate but also a friend - was so fortunate to be able to meet her & her husband a few times in person. Miss her a lot.... I made a card in her honour that I know she'd appreciate.
Thanks so much for joining us!
Take care,
Glenda
p.s. This is one of two posts that I've done today in honour of Lindsey. Here's the other one.

fabulous fall
Welcome to September at Seize the Birthday. Linda has chosen fall colours as our topping this week. Admittedly, fall is not my favourite season (summer lover here) but do love the colours that come with the season. Normally I would do red, orange and yellow but decided to go a little non-traditional with this card. I was inspired by this card by Ardyth.

marvelous music
Is anyone else finding it hard to believe it's the end of August?! This (Northern Hemisphere) summer seems to have flown by. I'm a summer lover so am hoping for the weather to stay nice as long as possible (although we definitely need some rain).
At Seize the Birthday this week, Jules has picked the theme make it musical. I love listening to music and I know how to play a few instruments but I realize that my musical crafty supplies are not very plentiful. I found an SU! old set and used the bass clef (I wanted to use the treble clef too but just couldn't get it to work in the design). I did an Distress Oxide smoosh background, then penciled in the staff and then stamped the bass clef. I was going to to go over the staff with a fine pen but I ended up liking how the pencil looked. After the card was done, I thought I should have separated birthday so it was more like how the Happy Birthday song goes. Oh well...

spectacular shapes
The latest challenge at Seize the Birthday is shape cards, courtesy of JoAnn. I pulled out my rarely used hexagon dies for this card. It's a great way to use an alcohol ink panel that was sitting around.

it's just a number
Happy Thursday craft friends. I must confess that I'm writing this very last minute and I'm tired - I started a new job this week after being unemployed since February so just adjusting to my new schedule. Definitely been a bit of a hectic week but I'm excited about my new gig.
Our Seize the Birthday Challenge this week is all about number crunching courtesy of Cathy. I made a grungy watercolour background with some Distress Oxides and a bunch of random Unity Stamps (so fun to dig out a bunch of stamps I haven't used for a long time!). Age is die cut with black card stock and then I added Glossy Accents. I don't think I will ever do that again - it was a very runny/messy process putting Glossy Accents on those letters (I swore a lot).

it's a banner day!
Barb has picked our challenge this week at Seize the Birthday - put your sentiment on a banner. I dug out a vintage Technique Tuesday stamp set which fit the challenge perfectly. I pulled out my sewing machine to stitch the pieces together. To make this process easier - I put all the pieces together on a long thin double sided tape and then ran them through the sewing machine. I put some glitter on some of the pieces but it's hard to see. Really like how this turned out!

make it pop!
The Seize the Birthday Challenge this week, courtesy of Ashwini, is make it pop! I popped up my die cut sentiment using some alcohol ink letters.

wonderful wheels
Our new challenge at Seize the Birthday, courtesy of Julie, is wheels. After much pondering, I went easy and CAS. I found ferris wheel patterned paper, inked the edges, foiled the sentiment and added some sequins. I'm really happy with how it turned out - hope you like it too. Thanks for the challenge Julie!

bursting with balloons
Hey crafty friends! Hope you're enjoying spring or fall where you are. We might FINALLY be getting some warm temperatures here soon - can't wait. There is a joke that Canadians' favourite pastime is talking about the weather... I'm definitely feeling that lately.
This week at Seize the Birthday we are playing with balloons, courtesy of Vicki. I had many iterations of balloon cards (that look nothing like these) before I settled on the first one. Then I was hunting through some stamps when I across a hot air balloon stamp that I had never used before so decided to make another one. Also found some patterned paper that I had been hoarding (surprise surprise) that suited the balloon well. The patterned paper is sparkly but it's hard to see. One sassy and one whimsical - do you have a favourite?

drinks & inks
Happy April everyone! Hope all is well. Here on the west coast of Canada it is mostly feeling/looking like spring although I would always be happy with warmer temperatures.
Our topping at Seize the Birthday this week is alcohol, courtesy of Shirley - this can be alcohol inks or alcohol images or both! I did both :). I've used these dies a lot - thought they were perfect for this challenge. The embossing folder is a relatively new acquisition for me and I quite like it. This is also one of those cards that is a random size - I sized the card to fit the design, rather than other way around.

glorious garden
Happy Thursday crafty friends! Hope you're having a great week so far.
At Seize the Birthday, our fearless leader Nancy has pick the theme of things in the garden. I recently got this ginkgo leaf stencil and I'm loving it. I figure there could be ginkgo leaves the garden ... hopefully Nancy agrees. I just did random blending with a few different Distress Oxide inks and I love how it turned out - CAS but striking.
