Happy Thursday crafty friends! Over at Seize the Birthday this week we are playing with colour, but just two! Dichromatic is the theme courtesy of Ashwini! You know that if I will incorporate red as much as I can and I particularly like it with yellow. Kept this pretty CAS.

happy hobbies
Hard to believe it's the end of November and it is our last Seize the Birthday challenge of the year (we take December off). Have to admit I expected the end of 2021 to look a little different than it does but oh well... here's hoping for a bigger, brighter 2022. I'd also like to say goodbye to one my amazing team mates - TaeEun Yoo. Thank you for all your amazing creations - you will be missed! All the best to you.
Lindsey picked the theme of hobbies & pastimes. I picked the obvious... crafts!
Be sure to pop on over to the blog to check out the fun creations from the design team and our Surprise Party Guest, Carol McFarland. Thanks for all of your creations!
Hope you have a terrific day and a wonderful weekend! See you soon.

pretty in pastels
Just a reminder... in the Northern Hemisphere there is still officially three weeks of summer left and fall has not arrived, even though the calendar says September! I'm a summer lover so am holding on as long as I can!
Our challenge at Seize the Birthday this week is pastel colours! Thanks to JoAnn for this challenge... I default to bright colours so this was a good challenge to get me out of my comfort zone. That said, I stayed firmly in my CAS comfort zone for this card. I quite like coral coloured poppies so that was my inspiration for this card. Please ignore my misaligned enamel dots. I tried to fix one but the adhesive on those suckers is pretty aggressive. I could have fixed it in Photoshop but then I decided not to... embrace the imperfection. ;) It may be hard to see but I stamped the birthday on light green.
Hope you have a terrific day and a wonderful weekend!

wondrous wheels
Happy Thursday crafters! Hope you are doing well. This week at Seize the Birthday, Shirley has given us the challenge of wheels. The possibilities are endless! I've been trying my hand at blending... sometimes I am more successful than others. This one was successful and goes well with the water theme.

sketchy
It was the 1 year anniversary for our 'shelter in place' this week. Wow - hard to believe! What do you do to occupy your spare time right now? I've been really good at reading, exercising and eating ... not so good at cleaning the house, yard work, or practicing languages and piano. ;) Just grateful to be healthy, to be able to go outside, to be employed and to be able to see friends at a distance.
I got to pick the challenge for Seize the Birthday this week... so I pulled together a sketch. Thanks Ashwini for "blogifying it"! I was inspired by this card of mine, just flipped on it's side. This card was not at all what I initially envisioned... I like it but don't love it ... but I'm posting it anyway. LOL! Maybe I'll warm up to it.
Hope you are able to play along! I always love sketch interpretations. There are some brilliantly creative ones from our Surprise Party Guest Carol and the rest of the DT over at the blog.
Thanks so much for stopping by. Hope you are staying healthy and sane (mostly anyway)!

Case Me a Christmas Card with Michelle Lupton
Happy December! I'm honoured and excited that fellow science nerd and card maker Michelle Lupton invited me back again this year for some Christmas card fun. I have lots of Christmas cards left over from previous years so won't be making any new ones to send... but it's always but to play around with my Christmas crafty goodies.

Challenge Me a Christmas Card with Michelle Lupton
I challenged Michelle to do some watercolouring with Distress Inks. This is what I came up with on my end. The Distress Inks used are Candied Apple, Twisted Citron and Shabby Shutters. I don't have poinsettias around my house at Christmas but this stamp from Avery Elle just shouts watercolour to me. The sentiment is from my days on the Skipping Stones Design design team. Using a French sentiment reminds me that I need to practice my French more... hoping to go to Quebec next year and 6 years of high school French won't get me far since it was so long ago! Added a bit of sparkle just for fun. Hope you like it!

confetti celebrations
So it's time to get back into the swing of things for Seize the Birthday. Before I get into the challenge, a few announcements. We had the fabulous Sandy step down from the team :( - her and her fabulous creations will be missed but hopefully we'll see her in the gallery a bit. So coming in to join the team is Cathy Roffey! Really looking forward to having her on the team. Welcome Cathy! Also, we have a brand new Surprise Party Guest for January and February and that is Julie Beech! Looking forward to having you play along with us Julie.
Our topping/option this week is confetti! This one was a bit tough for me so I went the easy route and just used some confetti patterned paper. I started with a shaker card but wasn't totally happy with it so I made another with the leftover paper. I'm sharing both with you... which is your favourite?
