I'm not usually a pink person (which most people know) but I have a new to me die set that suits pink really well. So using it for the latest Colour Hues challenge was no brainer. I found some scraps of pink paper that all went together so pretty happy with how this turned out.

I bought this gorgeous foil plate in January and my first try with it ended up as this card! I have made several others like this - foil on patterned paper with a simple sentiment. Definitely a winner design in my mind.

Happy February! I just got back from a crafty retreat with my friends - so nice to just chill and craft for a few days. Decided to play along with Color Hues again... Happy Thursday crafty friends! Hope you are doing well.  I have to admit I have not the been the most cheerful person lately with the state of the world... but I am making time to be kind to myself and keep busy with fun things.  Including being crafty of course :).

Barbara came up with our Seize the Birthday challenge this week - stitching.  I happily used my sewing machine to add a stitched border to the card. Last year I was able to reorganize my craft room so my sewing machine can stay set up all the time (which was also handy when I was sewing masks - lol) - so I love any excuse to use it. Kept this card CAS with some bright colours - quite like how this turned out.

Just a reminder... in the Northern Hemisphere there is still officially three weeks of summer left and fall has not arrived, even though the calendar says September! I'm a summer lover so am holding on as long as I can!

Our challenge at Seize the Birthday this week is pastel colours! Thanks to JoAnn for this challenge... I default to bright colours so this was a good challenge to get me out of my comfort zone.  That said, I stayed firmly in my CAS comfort zone for this card.  I quite like coral coloured poppies so that was my inspiration for this card. Please ignore my misaligned enamel dots.  I tried to fix one but the adhesive on those suckers is pretty aggressive.  I could have fixed it in Photoshop but then I decided not to... embrace the imperfection. ;) It may be hard to see but I stamped the birthday on light green.

Happy Thursday my crafty friends... hope you are doing well.  I'm particularly excited as I'm getting vaccinated (jab #1) this weekend!  I know it's still a long road and many people around the world don't even have access yet but I'm glad things are moving forward. FYI: Unicef Canada is fundraising for equitable vaccine access.

Colleen has chosen bouquets for our theme at Seize the Birthday this week! This is not my original idea - borrowed it from my friend Sue.  I love dark purple so much but I don't seem to use it as much as I should (but it is hard to photograph).

Seize the Birthday is playing with transparency/vellum this week (courtesy of Ashwini). Thanks for the great challenge. I chose vellum as it just seemed to fit the feel of my card.  Please ignore my slightly tipsy 'happy' ... guess it got into my martini from last time! Loved putting the stitching on this (it's a great way to attach the vellum), especially since this is one of the few things I've sewed lately that wasn't a mask!

totally tropical

We are jetting away to tropical paradises this week at Seize the Birthday.  We can't actually do it so might as well cheer ourselves up with some beautiful tropical cards.  Thanks to teammate Shirley for picking this theme!

The background paper is some very old stuff from Making Memories but thought it suited the theme well.  The flowers were run through the good old standby Swiss Dots embossing folder and then I added some white gel pen.  Pretty CAS but bright and cheerful.

Exciting times at Seize the Birthday with a new look for the new year!  I just love how fun and colourful it is... a big shout out to team mate Ashwini who created it.  Thank you so much!

Our topping this week is layers.  I don't do a lot of layers most of the time so it was fun to get creative with layer implementation. I cut out and popped up the flowers and leaf. This was also about using up scraps.  I've been hoarding this patterned paper and striped vellum forever! I'm also trying my phone camera for the first time for my card picture (as opposed to my DSLR).  What do you think?

Hey crafty friends... my only question this week is how the heck did it get to be August?  Feels like July just started!  Had a great July - it's my birthday month and I was able to do a lot of celebrating with friends. 

Over at Seize the Birthday, we are doing flowers this week.  I must admit, I was having a hard time with this card.  Flowers aren't usually a problem for me... but apparently when I have to do one, they are a problem. So I stuck with clean and simple for this card.  Let's hope my mojo returns for our next challenge. (There is some Wink of Stella on the flower but it's hard to see)

Tag - you're it!

Happy Thursday friends!  I have affectionately started referring to Thursday as "Friday Eve", makes the weekend seem closer.  It's not my unique idea.... borrowed it from my friend C.J. ;)
