gorgeous gardens

Happy Thursday crafty friends.  Linda has picked our Seize the Birthday topping for this week and she wants us to make a spring garden. I decided to go big & bold with my flowers.  I'm really happy with how the green background makes the pink & orange flowers pop.

Be sure to head over to the blog to see the glorious creations from our Surprise Party Guest Jennie M, previous winner Bonnie, and the rest of the design team.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a terrific day and a wonderful upcoming weekend.

grey & pink

I'm not usually a pink person (which most people know) but I have a new to me die set that suits pink really well. So using it for the latest Colour Hues challenge was no brainer. I found some scraps of pink paper that all went together so pretty happy with how this turned out.

Thanks to Carol for getting me out of my comfort zone by using pink.

Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by,
Glenda

my favourite colour is red

Happy Thursday crafty friends!  Over at Seize the Birthday, JoAnn has asked us to use our favourite colour.  Should come as no surprise that I chose red. I just got this new Altenew set from my local-ish crafty store Crafty Capers.

Be sure to check out the blog for the fabulous creations from the design team, Surprise Party Guest Karen Letchworth, and our previous winner Jenn. Hope you can play along with us - using the topping isn't mandatory but we love it when you do.

fantastic flowers

Happy May crafty friends! Hope this month is treating you well so far. Nancy is hosting our flowers topping for us this week at Seize the Birthday. I bought this gorgeous foil plate in January and my first try with it ended up as this card! I have made several others like this - foil on patterned paper with a simple sentiment. Definitely a winner design in my mind.

Be sure to head over to the blog to check out the stunning creations from the rest of the team, our new Surprise Party Guest Wanda Cullen (welcome!) and previous winner Tracy! Hope you can play along with us - using the topping isn't mandatory but we love it when you do.

Happy February! I just got back from a crafty retreat with my friends - so nice to just chill and craft for a few days. Decided to play along with Color Hues again... I struggle with pink but thought I would give it a shot. Thanks to Tracey for challenging me! In love with these dies so decided to use them again.

Edited to add (thanks Carol!) - also joining in for the Inkspirational Challenge (also red & pink).

It's spring time in the Northern Hemisphere so at Seize the Birthday, we are doing spring florals, courtesy of Linda. No surprise, I went very clean and simple. Used some watercolour pencils and my Tim Holtz water brush.

stellar stitching

Happy Thursday crafty friends! Hope you are doing well.  I have to admit I have not the been the most cheerful person lately with the state of the world... but I am making time to be kind to myself and keep busy with fun things.  Including being crafty of course :).

Barbara came up with our Seize the Birthday challenge this week - stitching.  I happily used my sewing machine to add a stitched border to the card. Last year I was able to reorganize my craft room so my sewing machine can stay set up all the time (which was also handy when I was sewing masks - lol) - so I love any excuse to use it. Kept this card CAS with some bright colours - quite like how this turned out.

Be sure to pop on over to the blog to check out the stunning creations from the design team and our Surprise Party Guest, Jenny.

Hope you have a terrific day and a wonderful weekend!

pretty in pastels

Just a reminder... in the Northern Hemisphere there is still officially three weeks of summer left and fall has not arrived, even though the calendar says September! I'm a summer lover so am holding on as long as I can!

Our challenge at Seize the Birthday this week is pastel colours! Thanks to JoAnn for this challenge... I default to bright colours so this was a good challenge to get me out of my comfort zone.  That said, I stayed firmly in my CAS comfort zone for this card.  I quite like coral coloured poppies so that was my inspiration for this card. Please ignore my misaligned enamel dots.  I tried to fix one but the adhesive on those suckers is pretty aggressive.  I could have fixed it in Photoshop but then I decided not to... embrace the imperfection. ;) It may be hard to see but I stamped the birthday on light green.

Be sure to pop on over to the blog to check out the beautiful creations from the design team and our Surprise Party Guest, Jenny.

beautiful bouquets

Happy Thursday my crafty friends... hope you are doing well.  I'm particularly excited as I'm getting vaccinated (jab #1) this weekend!  I know it's still a long road and many people around the world don't even have access yet but I'm glad things are moving forward. FYI: Unicef Canada is fundraising for equitable vaccine access.

Colleen has chosen bouquets for our theme at Seize the Birthday this week! This is not my original idea - borrowed it from my friend Sue.  I love dark purple so much but I don't seem to use it as much as I should (but it is hard to photograph).

Hope you can join us this week for some beautiful creations (or just birthday of course). Head over to the blog to see what our Surprise Party Guest, Lynda and the rest of the team came up with.

very vellum

Seize the Birthday is playing with transparency/vellum this week (courtesy of Ashwini). Thanks for the great challenge. I chose vellum as it just seemed to fit the feel of my card.  Please ignore my slightly tipsy 'happy' ... guess it got into my martini from last time! Loved putting the stitching on this (it's a great way to attach the vellum), especially since this is one of the few things I've sewed lately that wasn't a mask!

happy birthday

Hope you are able to play along and have some fun with this! Be sure to check out all of the fun creations from the rest of the team and our Surprise Party Guest Julie Peddicord!  This is Julie's last week with us.  Thanks so much for sharing your talent with us Julie!

Welcome to another Seize the Birthday Challenge... Nancy has challenged us to watercolour this time.  I love watercolouring and decided to do a little clean & simple card.  I felt like it needed more but then just decided to step away. Hope you like it!

totally tropical

We are jetting away to tropical paradises this week at Seize the Birthday.  We can't actually do it so might as well cheer ourselves up with some beautiful tropical cards.  Thanks to teammate Shirley for picking this theme!

The background paper is some very old stuff from Making Memories but thought it suited the theme well.  The flowers were run through the good old standby Swiss Dots embossing folder and then I added some white gel pen.  Pretty CAS but bright and cheerful.

Hope you can join us for this challenge! Check out the blog for the rest of the terrifically tropical creations from the team and Jo, our fantastic Surprise Party Guest! Welcome!

magnificent monochrome

Happy Thursday friends!  Hope you are hangin' in.  There will be some loosening of the restrictions soon - I'm looking forward to it but will still be staying smart about this.  Adapt to this 'new normal'... as if life was ever really normal.  ;)

It's all about monochromatic at Seize the Birthday this week.  The queen of amazing colours, TaeEun, picked this theme for us.  You had to know what colour I would pick...

Hope you can join us for this challenge! Check out the blog for the rest of the colourful creations from the team and Dotty Jo, our new Surprise Party Guest! Welcome!

lovely layers

Happy 2020 crafty friends! Welcome to a new decade... or not... depending on your point of view. ;) Wishing you all the best for the upcoming year... hope you had an enjoyable holiday season.

Exciting times at Seize the Birthday with a new look for the new year!  I just love how fun and colourful it is... a big shout out to team mate Ashwini who created it.  Thank you so much!

Our topping this week is layers.  I don't do a lot of layers most of the time so it was fun to get creative with layer implementation. I cut out and popped up the flowers and leaf. This was also about using up scraps.  I've been hoarding this patterned paper and striped vellum forever! I'm also trying my phone camera for the first time for my card picture (as opposed to my DSLR).  What do you think?

I'd like to welcome the super talented Joyce Mehrber as our Surprise Party Guest for the next couple of months.  Welcome Joyce! Be sure to check out the blog for all of lovely layered cards from the Design Team!

Thanks for stopping by and have a terrific day and wonderful weekend.

fabulous flowers

Hey crafty friends... my only question this week is how the heck did it get to be August?  Feels like July just started!  Had a great July - it's my birthday month and I was able to do a lot of celebrating with friends.

Over at Seize the Birthday, we are doing flowers this week.  I must admit, I was having a hard time with this card.  Flowers aren't usually a problem for me... but apparently when I have to do one, they are a problem. So I stuck with clean and simple for this card.  Let's hope my mojo returns for our next challenge. (There is some Wink of Stella on the flower but it's hard to see)

Be sure to head over to the blog to give Su, our Surprise Party Guest, and the rest of the design team some love for their fantastic floral creations.

Happy August and have a wonderful upcoming weekend. Thanks for stopping by.

happy solstice

Happy first day of summer to those in the northern hemisphere!  It think it has finally arrived here... hope it has where you are too.

Over at Seize the Birthday, we have an 'anything goes' challenge this week.  I went pretty CAS with this card.  Absolutely love this die... just used some Distress Ink, water and a paint brush to colour it.

Hope you can play along with us this week!  All the details on how to play along are on the blog.  Give some love to our Surprise Party Guest, Sonja K, and the rest of the team.

big hugs

Hope you're having a great day crafty friends.  Spring seems to be arriving so that puts a big smile on my face.  This week at Seize the Birthday, we are highlighting teal as our topping/option.  This is not a colour I normally use so it was a bit of a challenge.  Stayed pretty simple and I like how it turned out.

All the details for playing along is on the blog.  Our Surprise Party Guest for the next couple of months is Kim Lackenbach.  Be sure to give her, and the rest of the DT, some crafty love.

simply single

Happy Thursday crafty friends.  Hope all is well in your world!

At Seize the Birthday this week, we are having some fun with single layer cards!  I had some fun with colouring with coloured pencils on kraft paper.  Hope you like it! Colouring is not my specialty but I think it turned out ok.

Hope you get a chance to play along with us this week.  Be sure to stop at the blog for all the rules on how to play along.  Give some love to our Surprise Party Guest Cathy and the rest of the design team.

Tag - you're it!

Happy Thursday friends!  I have affectionately started referring to Thursday as "Friday Eve", makes the weekend seem closer.  It's not my unique idea.... borrowed it from my friend C.J. ;)

This week at Seize the Birthday, we are doing tags!  Playing with my paints and stencils again to created this one.  Always find the bright colours so striking on the black tags.

Remember, our 'toppings' are always optional and the only thematic requirement is birthday!  Also, to be eligible to win, the project can been linked to a maximum of five challenges (including Seize the Birthday).  All the rest of the details are over at the blog.  Be sure to give some love to the rest of the design team too!!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I appreciate your comments!  I don't have much chance to get around to comment but always grateful when you leave one here.
Have a terrific day and a wonderful weekend,
Glenda

Fabulous florals

Happy Thursday crafty friends.  Hope you are having a great week.  Before getting into the details of the Seize the Birthday challenge this week, I want to welcome two new people to the team... Vicki and Barbara!! I completely forgot to do it last time so huge apologies to them.  Be sure to check out their fabulous creations.  The toppings/option for this time around is 'floral'.  I decided to do a tag with some paints and a stencil. What do you think?

Hope you can play along this week!  All the details are on the blog.  Check out the rest of the beautiful blossoms from the rest of the team.

Thanks for stopping by.... have a terrific day and a wonderful weekend.
