sketchy

This week at Seize the Birthday JoAnn has a sketch for us.  I love sketch challenges... especially because everyone has such a different take on it.  I know how much JoAnn loves flowers so I was inspired to use flowers for this card. I'm lacking a little mojo lately but managed to come up with this.  After a couple of tries watercolouring this image, I decided that it's best if my watercolouring is not precise (that's probably best for most things with me!). The stamps are brand new (gift from a generous friend) and the ribbon is very old. I don't remember the last time I used ribbon but I have a lot of it so dug through my stash for something that worked. Apologies for my slightly warped sentiment.

Be sure to head over to the blog to see the spectacular creations from our Surprise Party Guest Karren and the rest of the team have created.

Wishing you a wonderful day. Thank you for stopping by.

sketchy

It was the 1 year anniversary for our 'shelter in place' this week. Wow - hard to believe! What do you do to occupy your spare time right now? I've been really good at reading, exercising and eating ... not so good at cleaning the house, yard work, or practicing languages and piano.  ;) Just grateful to be healthy, to be able to go outside, to be employed and to be able to see friends at a distance.

I got to pick the challenge for Seize the Birthday this week... so I pulled together a sketch.  Thanks Ashwini for "blogifying it"! I was inspired by this card of mine, just flipped on it's side.  This card was not at all what I initially envisioned... I like it but don't love it ... but I'm posting it anyway.  LOL!  Maybe I'll warm up to it.

Hope you are able to play along!  I always love sketch interpretations.  There are some brilliantly creative ones from our Surprise Party Guest Carol and the rest of the DT over at the blog.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Hope you are staying healthy and sane (mostly anyway)!

Shine On

Happy weekend!  Hope all is well in your world.  Life is a bit crazy here with more upcoming work travel and school work but did manage to get a rare few hours today to sit down and craft.

I've been wanting to play along with Lisa Arana's Wanna Sketch for a while and finally got a chance!  This is for Wanna Sketch No. 8 (see sketch below).  I didn't have a ton of time so pulled out some die cuts and one stamp (love Ali Edwards stamps!).  Definitely a CAS 5-ish minute quickie!  Hope you like it.

Thanks so much to Lisa for the inspiration and thanks to you for stopping by.  Have a great week!
Take care,
Glenda

Seize the Birthday - Celebrate

Happy Thursday everyone!  Time for another Seize the Birthday Sketch!  Our sponsor this week is A Day for Daisies and they are offering a $12 gift card to their store.

I decided to go very spring and very feminine with the card this week.  The sketch (see below), from Jen, is super fun and went well with the flowers I got from A Day for Daisies.

Hope you can play along this week.  All of the guidelines are here!
Thanks so much for stopping by and have a terrific day.

Bonjour!

Joyeux lundi! Happy Monday! Bonjour! It is still Sunday night here but I suspect most of you will be reading this on Monday.  Happy Family Day to some of my Canadian friends and Happy Presidents Day to my American friends!

Playing along with the Studio Calico sketch for the first time. I always have trouble trying to layout a card so sketch challenges are always my favourite. This one is particularly fun (see below).

I love using French sentiments... but it also reminds me that I wish my French was better.  Guess I need to travel to Quebec and go back to France!  Six years of high school French gave me decent comprehension and pronunciation but I have a hard time stringing a sentence together. The verb conjunctions *might* be a little rusty too.  Hee, hee...  ETA... and oh, to be able to write bi-lingual posts like Alexandra.

Hope you enjoy today's card and have a great week.  I always appreciate it when you stop by and all of the comments warm my heart.  Merci beaucoup!
Glenda

Hugs

Happy Monday!  Just a quick post to share another Hero Arts sketch for this month (see sketch below). It's a pretty clean and simple card with my favourite colour combination (red/black/kraft).  Hope you like it!

To all of my BC friends, Happy (first-ever) Family Day!  Everyone else in Canada has family day next weekend.  I heard it was because the ski hills wanted the BC people to be able to go skiing with their families this weekend and not have to compete for accommodations with the U.S. tourists who will be up here next weekend for their long weekend next weekend.  Apparently the powers-that-be agreed with them!  I'm loving having a long weekend in February.

Have a great week!  Check back tonight for another guest designer post.
Thanks for stopping by,
Glenda

It's all about the polka dots

Happy Sunday!  To my fellow Canadians having a long weekend (I know it's not everyone) - hope you are enjoying it!  To my friends in northeastern North America... hope you are staying warm, still have power and the snow isn't impacting your life too much.

I was never a fan of polka dots until I started crafting.  Recently, my mom saw me in a polka dot top and she was quite shocked!  I chalk it up to all the fabulous polka dots in crafting.  Paper Smooches Sparks is highlighting the polka dot trend in their challenge this week!

I wish I could say this simple card was a 'quickie'.  Alas no... many iterations... it almost didn't happen at all!  However,  I had some more coffee and stuck with and it *mostly* turned out how I wanted it.  ;)

The sketch I used is from CAS(E) this Sketch #14.  It's so fabulous!

Thanks for stopping by and thanks to both of the DTs for all of their fabulous inspiration.

A little shocking... x2

Ok, so don't fall of your chair from shock (well, if you don't, I might), I had a chance to another challenge tonight! I won't have time to craft again until Sunday so I thought I'd take advantage of some free crafty time with my best friend.

I'm playing along with the Love theme and sketch over at Hero Arts this month (see the sketch below). It was a fun sketch and might try to do it again... if I have time (hee, hee).  Another shocking thing... red and pink on the same card.  It happened...*gasp*... and it won't be the first time this week... ;)

Happy Wednesday and thanks for stopping by!  Have a great week.

Skipping Stones Design - Sketch 153

Happy Tuesday!  It's hard to believe it's been almost two weeks since my last post!  My apologies, life gets in the way of crafty fun sometimes.  Also, if I normally comment on your blog and haven't lately, more apologies!  My new operating system on my computer didn't keep all of my blog RSS feeds so I am trying to catch up and rebuild my list.  Again, life gets in the way of crafty blog reading.

Enough babbling... welcome to the Skipping Stones Sketch for this week.  Our sketch designer is the super talented Kelly Schirmer!  I used this fabulous sentiment from Uplifting and the branch from Dandelion Dreams.  The sketch is shown below.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Be sure to stop by Skipping Stones to see what the rest of the team and our guests came up with.

Hope everyone impacted by Superstorm Sandy are getting back to normal.  Also, for my American friends... remember to vote!

Skipping Stones Design Sketch 147

Welcome to this week's Skipping Stones Design Sketch!  We have Kim Kesti doing her last sketch with us (see below).  A big thanks to Kim for the inspiration.  We are featuring the Grunge and Grunge 2 sets in our sketches this week.  The sketch reminded me of a Polaroid so I made my floral paper into a picture.  To make it stand out a bit, I ran the edge along my black ink pad.

Hope you can play along with us this week.  Be sure to stop by the Skipping Stones Design blog for all the details and to check out what the rest of the team has created!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.

Skipping Stones Design Sketch 146

If you were here earlier this week, you would have read about my missing Skipping Stones Stamps.  Well, they did in fact arrive that very day. So, I've had some time to whip up a card with the new Cheers set using Kim's new sketch (see below).  I needed a masculine birthday card and I do love my martinis so came up with this (and who says you can't put a glitter on a martini on a masculine card - hee, hee):

ETA on 09/32 - This card is featured over on the Skipping Stones Blog!  Hope you can play along with this fun sketch.

This is going to be a short and sweet post as I really should get ready for bed!  Be sure to check out the Skipping Stones Blog to see the fabulous creations from the rest of the team and our guests.  Was bummed not to be able to be a part of the hop... dang the North American postal systems!  Oh well, all is well now. :D

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you have a great weekend.

Friendly sketch

Playing along with the My Mind's Eye Sketch Challenge #33 today.  It's my first time playing along and I have to say it was a tough one!  I really wanted to play along though since I have a lot of paper from My Mind's Eye.  The sketch lends itself to being quite 'scrappy' but I tried to pull it into the CAS realm.  I think I was moderately successful.  What do you think?

Here's the sketch.  If you'd like to play along, you have until tomorrow (March 25).

Hope you having a lovely weekend so far.  The sun is shining and it is almost into the double digits for temperature... no complaints here.  Better than the flakes of snow I saw earlier in the week.

I had a fun day off yesterday so that means today is cleaning... ugh.  I do need to clean my craft room though so I might get crafty again... :D

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great weekend.
