regal red

I was over the moon when I saw JoAnn's theme for this week's Seize the Birthday challenge.  It's RED! It's my favourite colour. I went very CAS so the red would shine - the splotches remind me a bit of flower petals.  The sentiment is one I love but haven't used it for a while. Hope you like what I've come up with.

Be sure to check out the blog to see the rest of the design team creations as well as our Surprise Guest Designer, Deborah Wheeler .

sassy splatter

Happy Thursday crafty friends! It's my turn to pick the theme at Seize the Birthday.  I went for something fun and easy - splatter! I decided to do some rainbow splatter with my Distress Oxide inks.  I was having trouble figuring out how to finish the card (there were a few different starts) and was then inspired by this card by my friend Cheiron.

Be sure to check out the blog to see the rest of the design team creations and those of our new Surprise Guest Designer, Deborah Wheeler and previous winner, Wanda Cullen.

it's just a number

Happy Thursday craft friends.  I must confess that I'm writing this very last minute and I'm tired - I started a new job this week after being unemployed since February so just adjusting to my new schedule. Definitely been a bit of a hectic week but I'm excited about my new gig.

Our Seize the Birthday Challenge this week is all about number crunching courtesy of Cathy. I made a grungy watercolour background with some Distress Oxides and a bunch of random Unity Stamps (so fun to dig out a bunch of stamps I haven't used for a long time!). Age is die cut with black card stock and then I added Glossy Accents.  I don't think I will ever do that again - it was a very runny/messy process putting Glossy Accents on those letters (I swore a lot).

Hope you can play along with us! Check out the blog for the rest of the fabulous creations from the DT as well as our Surprise Party Guest Bonnie. It's Bonnie's last challenge with us - thanks so much for all of your wonderful creations Bonnie!

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Hope you have a terrific day.

CASE the STB DT

It's our last Seize the Birthday challenge of the year.  So hard to believe! I fell like i say this every year but this year seems to have gone by so quickly... and it's been a weird year, that's for sure!

Barbara came up with a fabulous idea for a challenge - CASE a member of the Seize the Birthday Design Team.  So if you want to play along, head over to the STB blog and scroll through the DT posts to pick something that inspires you!

I couldn't decide on just one so I picked two!  We have such great designers on our team.  The first one was inspired by this card of Nancy's. The mottled flower was made by splashing some water on the Distress Oxide ink.

This second one was inspired by this card from Jules.

Am sad to say that Jules is departing and heading over to Color Hues Color Challenge.  While I'll miss her here, I look forward to her creations over there!

Be sure to check out the blog for all of the team's creations.  Really looking forward to the gallery for this one too!

Enjoy the rest of your 2022 and all the best for 2023.
Take care,
Glenda

stunning stencils

Welcome to another challenge over at Seize the Birthday. Cathy has chosen stencils this week.  I definitely have a bit of a stencil habit so the hard part was picking one.  I went with something simple to let the flower pop. Really like how this turned out. One embarrassing thing about this card? I've mailed it already so I can't remember what I used to watercolour the flower - Distress Inks or pencils. I suspect it was inks unless I was particularly thorough at blending out my pencil marks. Oops!

Be sure to pop on over to the blog to check out the delicious creations from the design team and welcome our new Surprise Party Guest, Carol McFarland. Great to have you join us Carol!

Hope you have a terrific day and a wonderful weekend!

totally tropical

We are jetting away to tropical paradises this week at Seize the Birthday.  We can't actually do it so might as well cheer ourselves up with some beautiful tropical cards.  Thanks to teammate Shirley for picking this theme!

The background paper is some very old stuff from Making Memories but thought it suited the theme well.  The flowers were run through the good old standby Swiss Dots embossing folder and then I added some white gel pen.  Pretty CAS but bright and cheerful.

Hope you can join us for this challenge! Check out the blog for the rest of the terrifically tropical creations from the team and Jo, our fantastic Surprise Party Guest! Welcome!

Have a terrific day and wonderful weekend.  Thanks for stopping by. Hope you are taking care of yourselves and staying well.

spectacular spring

Happy Thursday crafty friends... I trust all of you are staying spatially distant but socially connected these days ;).  I prefer those terms to social distancing. I'm working from home (fortunately) so that's keeping me busy but I am going to try and catch up on some of those long neglected projects - some fun, some not so fun! I am looking forward to this upcoming long weekend though... fingers crossed the weather is nice.

This week at Seize the Birthday, we are celebrating spring (for those in the southern hemisphere, I know you're celebrating autumn ;) ).  Thanks to teammate and friend, Lindsey, for this challenge. I found a leafy tag in my stash and thought I would dress it up a bit for this challenge.

Hope you can join us for this challenge! Check out the blog for the rest of the springy creations from the team and Stef, our Surprise Party Guest!

gorgeous green

Welcome to March crafty friends! It's heavy birthday months like this when I'm happy that I'm on a birthday card challenge design team. ;)  We have a challenge this week that is perfect for those of us who are wishing for spring to arrive... it's basically here for us so we are pretty lucky.

The challenge for Seize the Birthday this week (courtesy of Vicky) is touch of green. I love 'splash' challenges and green is an easy one for me.  I ended up doing two cards - couldn't decide which one to post so have added them both!

This first one has green in the centre of the leaves (coloured with a Copic) but it may be hard to see. There are also tiny pearls in the centre of some of the flowers.

The second one came together at the crafty retreat I went to at the end of January. A friend has these poppy dies and I kind of went wild with them.  I used the negative of the poppy die and really like the effect. It's also stamp free! I used to be surprised when I didn't stamp on a card but not any more - it's fun when a card comes together without any stamping.

Hope you can join us for this challenge! Check out the blog for the rest of the glorious green creations from the team and give a warm welcome to Stef Perry, our Surprise Party Guest for the next couple of months!

Have a terrific day and wonderful weekend.  Thanks for stopping by.

birthday hugs

Hey crafty friends.... happy June!  I'm just back from a few weeks in Europe ... we had a fabulous time but I do like being back in my own bed and shower.

We are covering the card at Seize the Birthday. I'm so used to doing CAS cards that have lots of white space so this is tough!  I cheated a bit and just used one large background stamp (*gasp*) and then kept everything else pretty simple.  Hope you like it and hope my teammates are ok with me bending the rules a bit. ;)

Hope you can join us this week.  Head over to the blog to give some love to our Surprise Party Guest Linda and the rest of the team.  All the rules & regs are over there too.

Have a terrific Thursday and a wonderful weekend.  Thanks for stopping by... always appreciate the comments.

floral CAS

Happy Thursday crafters!  I'm always amazing how quickly two weeks fly... here we are again with another Seize the Birthday challenge.  It's 'anything goes' this week... I made this one at my crafty retreat last month.  Really loving this colour (of course) so you may see it pop up fairly regularly here.... stayed pretty clean and simple with it.  I used a blender pen for some tonal variation and decided to go out of the lines to go along with the doodle flowers. Hope you like it!

Be sure to stop by the blog for all the rules & regs and to give some crafty love to our Surprise Party Guest Julie and the rest of the team.

Reformed paper hoarder

Well, maybe not 100% reformed... I still have A LOT of paper in my stash.  But I really have been trying to use up the paper that I have instead of buying more. The beautiful piece of paper (made by Pebbles) on this card, has been around for a loooooong time. The vibrant colours and the glossy finish are just so amazing together. I've pulled this together for the Simon Says Stamp Wednesday challenge where the theme is 'birthday' because it's 8th birthday of the Wednesday challenge!  Happy Birthday!

The best part? There is still a little bit of this paper left in my stash. ;)
Happy Friday crafty friends.  Hope you have a great weekend.

Stampin' with Alli

As I mentioned, I stopped off to visit and stamp with my friend Alli Miles on Sunday. If you don't know, Alli is a super talented and inspiring illustrator for Papertrey Ink and she just released a new stamp set called Take Three: Summer. Lucky me, I got to play with her new stamps. This is what I came up with. Be sure to stop by Alli's blog to see the beautiful creation she made with some A Muse stamps.

ETA - I just read Alli's blog post where she talks more about how we met, our stamping afternoon and the feeling of a natural friendship. I have to say, I totally agree and am sending big hugs back you Alli.

I absolutely love this funky flower and the chubby bird... how adorable is that? Needless to say I had a lot of fun. As you can see, I was sticking to the same colour combo. It came together because I had just bought the pink and yellow inks (details below) from Crafty Capers and was eager to use them. They are chalk inks and work really great on clear stamps that have a lot of solid surface area.

Thanks to Alli for a fun day and thanks to you for stopping by. If you have a chance, play along with my challenge from Monday. I'm really looking forward to this upcoming long weekend with my hubby.

Have a great weekend.

A bunch of randomness...

ok... cause I know you are waiting... the first bit of randomness is the winner of the blog candy is (chosen at random of course)...Kerry! Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net Kerry, go into my profile and send me an email with your snail mail address. Congrats Kerry and thanks to everyone for playing. Be sure to check out everyone's fabulous creations from last week - Jill, Sarah (check out her gallery - she has a few), Anne, Kerry, Jo Ann, Cheiron and Colleen. Thanks to all who played along and those who have played along over the last 52 challenges.

Today's challenge is easy! Make a tag or a card with a tag on it. I had fun with this one - used a tag from my Spellbinder's Tags Five. I also used one of my new Alli Miles (Papertrey) stamps and was inspired by this card (second card in the post) of Alli's. She's going to think I'm stalking her! I just think it's cool that someone I know designs stamps. If you play along this week, be sure to comment here. If you upload to SCS, use the keyword GRAC53. If possible, use a little A Muse on your card.

Random life ramblings...so I'm on the job hunt but getting bored when I'm not job hunting. For those who know me, well, they know I'm not very domestic. With all my spare time though, I figure I need to cook and clean a bit more (Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net). I made Thai-style Shrimp Noodles on Saturday night, pretty tasty. I also baked oatmeal chocolate chip cookies yesterday (I rarely bake so I must be bored Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net).

And a random video... my hubby sent this to me...Sand Animation. Aboslutely amazing!

Hope you have a great week and get a chance to play along with the challenge. Thanks for stopping by - Glenda
