Shirley has chosen Sweet Treats for our Seize the Birthday challenge this week. I love this martini die but I've never used it to make an espresso martini so thought it would be a good time to use it - I definitely think of espresso martinis as dessert! The tone on tone cream looks better in real life - especially like it with the embossing in the background.

off the edge
It's time for another Seize the Birthday challenge and Shirley has chosen off the edge. I love this challenge and decided to do a tipsy martini off the edge. There is a bit of sparkle (Wink of Stella) on the martini but it's hard to see.

it's just a number
Happy Thursday craft friends. I must confess that I'm writing this very last minute and I'm tired - I started a new job this week after being unemployed since February so just adjusting to my new schedule. Definitely been a bit of a hectic week but I'm excited about my new gig.
Our Seize the Birthday Challenge this week is all about number crunching courtesy of Cathy. I made a grungy watercolour background with some Distress Oxides and a bunch of random Unity Stamps (so fun to dig out a bunch of stamps I haven't used for a long time!). Age is die cut with black card stock and then I added Glossy Accents. I don't think I will ever do that again - it was a very runny/messy process putting Glossy Accents on those letters (I swore a lot).

bursting with balloons
Hey crafty friends! Hope you're enjoying spring or fall where you are. We might FINALLY be getting some warm temperatures here soon - can't wait. There is a joke that Canadians' favourite pastime is talking about the weather... I'm definitely feeling that lately.
This week at Seize the Birthday we are playing with balloons, courtesy of Vicki. I had many iterations of balloon cards (that look nothing like these) before I settled on the first one. Then I was hunting through some stamps when I across a hot air balloon stamp that I had never used before so decided to make another one. Also found some patterned paper that I had been hoarding (surprise surprise) that suited the balloon well. The patterned paper is sparkly but it's hard to see. One sassy and one whimsical - do you have a favourite?

delightful drinks
Appropriately, our theme at Seize the Birthday this week is food and/or drinks. My love of delicious food and beverages is no secret so it won't come as a surprise that I picked this theme. Hope you like the result! Olives never make an appearance in my martinis but I am fond of them with a twist.

stunning stencils
At Seize the Birthday this week, we are having some fun with stencils. I decided to get out my Gelli Arts plate and some paints for this challenge. I played around with a bunch of different stencils and colour combos (see my Instagram) so it was hard to pick which one to make a card with. (Note: don't be surprised if you see more of these panels on upcoming cards!) I finally decided to make two cards, one using the positive and the other using the negative. Plus, I love purple but don't use it nearly enough. The backgrounds are 'so much' that I kept everything else fairly simple. I have to give a shout out to my friend Cheiron for teaching me this technique!
Thanks for stopping by. Have a terrific day and a wonderful weekend.

gettin' krafty
So you may be questioning my spelling today but we are playing with kraft paper over at Seize the Birthday this week so I'm just being a little silly. The option/topping is to have a kraft card base... this is what I came up with. Pretty CAS but I like the colour combination.

Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Magazine Special Thanks! Blog Hop
Wow... not really sure what to say here today. Paper Crafts Magazine has been such force in the paper crafting world and I am sad that it will soon be no longer. However, I believe we should celebrate the fabulous entity and the amazing people that are Paper Crafts Magazine!
First off... you should have arrived here from Brenda Weaver's blog... secondly, here is the card I created. My mojo is a little rusty these days as I haven't been crafting due to grad school so hope you like it! (In retrospect - I should have done a martini card - would have been far more appropriate! LOL).
I going to try to keep this short and sweet but I do want to talk about some of the highlights of my relationship with Paper Crafts Magazine:
- The relationship really started when I won World Card Making Day in the fall of 2010. Can't tell you how giddy I was. Here's the card.
- Getting chosen Moxie Fabber of the Week in the spring of 2011 was pretty fabulous too.
- Going to CHA in January of 2013 was so amazing as I got to meet the fabulous Paper Crafts ladies, the Go-To Girls as well so many other amazing crafters
- Just about fell off the couch when I got the email I was going to be a cover girl in July 2013. Pretty freakin' cool.
I have to say, the best thing about this magazine, for me, is the relationships and amazing friendships it has facilitated and the opportunities it created for me. I am humbled and honoured and I thank all of you soooo much for everything you done. Your genuine passion and enthusiasm for the craft always shone through!
Here's a picture of Susan R. Opel, Cath Evaldson and me at CHA 2013. Was pretty thrilled to meet these two!
Bethany has created a fabulous video... check it out! Also, a big thanks to Taheerah for organizing the hop! Thanks for all of your hard work!
Now that you are done reading my ramblings... head off to see what Kelly Griglione created!
Thanks for stopping by. Big hugs to all the fabulous ladies at Paper Crafts Magazine - we love you and you'll be missed! xoxo

Let's Party
Welcome to another Seize the Birthday challenge! As always, the theme is "anything goes" and the topping/option this week is "stars and stripes". I opted out of the topping (which is totally ok if you play along!).
Hope you can play along this week. All of the details are on the blog. Be sure to swing by there and check out all of the fabulous designs by the rest of the team.
Happy belated Canada Day to my fellow Canadians and happy Independence Day to my American friends…. and happy "almost weekend" to everyone else!
Thanks so much for stopping by.
