dots & stripes

Happy Thursday friends! Hope all is well in your world. Not much new to report with me... haven't had much time to craft lately.  Busy with a bunch of other things... mostly fun stuff.

It's dots & stripes week over at Seize the Birthday! I tried to incorporate as much of both as I could... not sure if it's too much or just right! It is my favourite colour combination though. :)

Really excited to have the very talented Tenia Nelson join us as our Surprise Party Guest for the next couple of months.  Be sure to give her and the rest of the DT some crafty love over at the blog.  You'll find all the rules & regs there as well.

Thanks for stopping by and thanks for the comments! Have a great weekend.

woo freakin' hoo

It's almost March crafty friends! I don't know about you but I'm wishing for spring in a big way. We had an unusual and excessive snow fall this month which was not fun... but I really shouldn't complain but we didn't have excessively subzero temperatures that some of the rest of Canada had.

Our theme this week at Seize the Birthday is make us laugh! I realize that I have very few funny stamp sets... because I'm pretty sure I used this set last time we had this theme.  Must remedy this... my friend and snarky card maker extraordinaire teammate Lindsey will be very disappointed in me. By the way, there is some Wink of Stella sparkle on the balloon but it's hard to tell.

Be sure to stop by the blog for all the rules & regs and to give some crafty love to our Surprise Party Guest Julie and the rest of the team.

Happy March! Have a terrific day and wonderful weekend.

floral CAS

Happy Thursday crafters!  I'm always amazing how quickly two weeks fly... here we are again with another Seize the Birthday challenge.  It's 'anything goes' this week... I made this one at my crafty retreat last month.  Really loving this colour (of course) so you may see it pop up fairly regularly here.... stayed pretty clean and simple with it.  I used a blender pen for some tonal variation and decided to go out of the lines to go along with the doodle flowers. Hope you like it!

Be sure to stop by the blog for all the rules & regs and to give some crafty love to our Surprise Party Guest Julie and the rest of the team.

b&w

Hard to believe it's the end of January!  Hope you've had a great month.  I had a great crafty retreat a couple of weeks ago... I wish I could do that once a month!

At Seize the Birthday this week we are doing black & white.  I always find this a bit intimidating but I got into a grove and managed to make two!  Hope you like them. Please forgive the misaligned enamel dots on the second card - didn't notice until I was posting the picture (*gasp*)

Be sure to stop by the blog for all the rules & regs and to give some crafty love to the rest of the team.

Happy February and have a great weekend!
Always appreciate you stopping by.
Thanks,

happy stamping

Happy Thursday crafters!  The theme at Seize the Birthday this week is stamping.  I find it interesting that I started off paper crafting with stamping and now, so many years later, I quite easily make cards without stamping *gasp*. So I like that stamping was a must for this card.  Went kinda' clean & simple with this one... stuck with my favourite colour.  Hope you like it.

Be sure to stop by the blog for all the rules & regs and to give some crafty love to the rest of the team.

I'm off to a crafty retreat with my friends this weekend!  I get to spend all weekend chilling out and crafting with some of my favourite people.  Zero responsibility. Pure bliss.

Thanks for stopping by.  Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

confetti celebrations

Happy 2019 crafters!  Hope this year is treating you well so far.  No major complaints for me... I had a great Christmas and had a bit of time off. Did have to work a bit but I enjoy my job so it's all good.

So it's time to get back into the swing of things for Seize the Birthday. Before I get into the challenge, a few announcements. We had the fabulous Sandy step down from the team :( - her and her fabulous creations will be missed but hopefully we'll see her in the gallery a bit. So coming in to join the team is Cathy Roffey! Really looking forward to having her on the team.  Welcome Cathy! Also, we have a brand new Surprise Party Guest for January and February and that is Julie Beech!  Looking forward to having you play along with us Julie.

Our topping/option this week is confetti! This one was a bit tough for me so I went the easy route and just used some confetti patterned paper.  I started with a shaker card but wasn't totally happy with it so I made another with the leftover paper.  I'm sharing both with you... which is your favourite?

Hope you can play along with us!  Be sure to check out all the instructions over at the blog and give some love to the rest of the team.

Wishing you all the best for 2019! Thanks so much for stopping by.  Always appreciate your comments.

Challenge Michelle a Christmas Card

I was lucky enough to be asked to play along with Michelle Lupton's Challenge me a Christmas Card!  I challenged Michelle to make clean and simple CAS Christmas card.

I took some shimmer paper and did some green splatter. Then gold embossed merry and stamped Christmas.  Next, I scored two lines along the left side and then adhered to the base. It's hard to see the shimmer and the gold embossing so I took a close up.

I really do love CAS soooo much.... so I whipped up another one!  Just did a quick watercolour over the snowflake and then added the sentiment.  Put a little sparkle in the centre (the second photo shows that).

So thrilled that Michelle asked me to play along!  Be sure to check out Michelle's fabulous card.

Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season. Thanks for stopping by. Always appreciate your comments!

Tag - you're it!

Happy Thursday friends and happy Thanksgiving to my American friends.  It's our last Seize the Birthday challenge for 2018 and we are playing with tags.  I played with my Distress Oxide - I've used them so rarely so I am still learning but I think this turned out ok.

Thanks so much to our fall Surprise Party Guest, Marianne!  She's been fabulous ... be sure to head over to her blog and give her some love.  Remember to head over to our blog as well... check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the team.  All the rules & regs are over there too.

Thanks for stopping by.  Have a terrific holiday season and I look forward to seeing you in January!! I'll try to do a few posts in December.

clean & simple

Seize the Birthday is doing clean and simple this week! This is my favourite style ... especially when I whip up something like this that I love. Red is usually my go to colour but I do love purple too but forget to use it... must remember to use it more often.

fall foliage

Thursday is almost done in my time zone so I'm just squeaking it in...my apologies for the lateness! Our topping this week at Seize the Birthday is foliage.  I have lots of leave stamps but couldn't make them work.... so grabbed some leafy paper.

celebrate you

Hey crafty friends! We are having a little reprieve from the fall weather with a whole bunch of sunshine this week!  I'm a summer lover so I'll take the warm temperatures.  I actually don't mind the rain in the winter either though... better than snow!

Seize the Birthday is 'topping free' so I started mucking around with some watercolouring and a vellum layer.  Hope you like it!

wanderlust

Happy Thursday crafters!  We have a travel theme this week at Seize the Birthday.  I love to travel and love travel theme craft supplies (I *might* have picked this theme ;) ).

Feel free to share a favourite travel destination in the comments!  I've been lucky enough to travel a lot so it's hard to pick one but I do love warm, tropical locations.  I loved being in Australia the year I turned 40 - I loved the really warm evenings, sitting outside with a cold beverage.  Check out our fall Surprise Party Guest, Marianne!  Be sure to head over to her blog and give her some love.  Remember to head over to our blog as well... check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the team.  All the rules & regs are over there too.

dynamic die cuts

Happy September!  Well, I'd rather it was still August... or better yet July... but oh well here it is.  I'm a summer lover and that will never change.

At Seize the Birthday, we are playing with die cuts or punches.  I went with some big, bold die cut stars on this CAS card.  Hope you like it!

We have a new Surprise Party Guest this month, Marianne!  Be sure to head over to her blog and give her some love.  Remember to head over to our blog as well... check out the fabulous creations from the rest of the team.  All the rules & regs are over there too.

radiant rainbows

Ok, I'm doing this at the last minute so no time for chit chat!  LOL.  Kidding of course, but it is almost 10 pm the night before and I just finished retaking a photo of my card for this week.  I took one quite a while ago but it didn't show the colours well so had to take another tonight.... although I almost forgot (thanks Nancy!).  The photo isn't as bright as I would like but I was having trouble keeping the colours true when I was mucking around in PhotoShop.

We are playing with rainbows this week at Seize the Birthday.  I decided to a stained glass effect on this butterfly.  There is also a vellum butterfly in behind, but it may be hard to see.  Hope you like it!  It was a great way to use up some paper scraps but it was a little fussy to put together.

Hope you can play along with us this week!  All the details on how to play along are on the blog. Give some crafty love to our spectacular summer Surprise Party Guest, Trina Pham, and the rest of the team.

Have a terrific day and wonderful weekend.  Always appreciate your thoughtful comments! Also, please do not talk about the end of summer ;).  Fall does not start for a few more weeks and I am holding on to summer for as long as I can. :D

simply said

Ok, can someone tell me how it got to be the middle of August already!?!?! (By the way, did you know that there is a item of punctuation that is called an interrobang?  It's a combination of a question mark and an exclamation mark.  Here's a podcast that talks about it... 99% Invisible) I digress... I am very shocked that it is already the middle of August.  The past couple of months seem to have flown by.

Over at Seize the Birthday, we are having a 'no topping' week. As is my norm, I went CAS.  I love kraft card bases but seem to forget to use them!  Also, I love square cards too... just for something a bit different.  Hope you like it.
