focal one

Hey crafty friends... welcome to another Seize the Birthday challenge.  This is the second last one of 2024 as we take December off. Ashwini has chosen the challenge this week - for the focal image, use only one stamp and stamp it only once. No more stamping is allowed on the focal image.

I used one of my favourite big floral stamps and coloured it with watercolour pencils.  To liven it up, I splattered with some pink (! I know, I know) Distress Mica spray.  Happy with how this fun card turned out.

Be sure to stop by the blog and check out the fabulous creations from the design team, our Surprise Party Guest Fran.

Sending crafty love to all of you.
Thanks for stopping by and take care,
Glenda

red & black

Hey crafty friends.  I couldn't resist playing along with one of my favourite colour combos - red & black - over at Colour Hues Challenge. I recently took a fall leaves watercolour painting class and couldn't resist putting some of those techniques into this card. I used Distress Ink for this card... since I made it, I've picked up some watercolour paints (always more crafty supplies to buy - right?). I've also accumulated many leaves in my jacket pockets - lol.

Thanks to the design team for all the fabulous inspiration.

Have a great day and I'll be back on Thursday with another Seize the Birthday challenge.
Thanks for stopping by.

fine feathers

Welcome to another Seize the Birthday Challenge! Vicky chose feathers as the topping this week. I don't have any feather dies or stamps so I went with a bird. Tried to just make it simple and elegant. The card base is a dark purple - oh purple, how I love you but how difficult you are to photograph.

Be sure to stop by the blog and check out the fabulous creations from the design team, our Surprise Party Guest Fran and our previous winner, Leslie.

Case Me a Christmas Card with Michelle Lupton

It's that time of year again when I'm joining the fabulous Michelle Lupton with Case Me a Christmas Card. I'm always so honoured that Michelle invites me back!

Case Me a Christmas Card

I've chosen this card of Michelle's to CASE. Love the rich gold and teal.  I didn't have that shade of teal so went with a navy blue and use hot foiling for my gold. I inked around the edges (a bit hard to see in the photo)

Thanks again for having me Michelle! Be sure to check Michelle entire CASE Me a Christmas Card series and the rest of her wonder creations.  She's amazing with alcohol inks!

Have a wonderful day.

dazzling dots

Shirley picked dots for our Seize the Birthday Challenge this week.  I've been on a bit of a rainbow kick lately so I decided to rainbow my dots.  I just swiped various Distress Oxides across this dots background stamp to get the effect.  I thought this was going to be a recipe for several "do-overs" but I actually managed to get this to work on the first time. Spritzed a bit of water on it and then stamped on some watercolour paper. Couldn't resist using this fun sentiment.  I used some iridescent embossing powder on the sentiment to add some more rainbow.

Be sure to head over to the blog to welcome our new Surprise Party Guest Fran Wing! Check out the dynamite creations from the rest of the design team too.

So hard to believe it's October! I'm not loving the cooler temps but we are still getting a bit of sunshine. Sending my thoughts to those in the southern US who are being impacted by hurricanes.  Hope you are staying safe.

Take care and thanks for stopping by,
Glenda

celebrate

Nancy picked our Seize the Birthday challenge this week - use the word celebrate. I have lots of celebrate stamps but wanted to try something different.  Used a bunch of scraps for the letters and stacked some below to give some dimension.  The martini glasses are done with silver paper and also stacked to give dimension.

Hope you can play along with us!  Be sure to stop by the blog to see the great creations from the design team and our Suprise Party Guest Karen. Thanks for all of your terrific designs Karen!

Thanks for stopping by and hope you have a wonderful weekend.  So hard to believe it's the end of September!

sensational stripes

At Seize the Birthday this week, Linda has challenged us to stripes! I love stripes but I decided to incorporate my stripes a little differently this time.  They are subtly in the background, thanks to a embossing folder. I'm still always a little surprised when I don't use a stamp on a card - lol. Does that happen to you?

Be sure to stop by the blog and check out the spectacular creations from our Surprise Party Guest Karen, previous winner Helen, and the rest of the design team.  Hope you're able to play along with us!

a little note

It's a been a minute since I played along with the Color Hues Challenge but fall is definitely in the air and I'm feeling the rust and green colour combo. I got these Tim Holtz leaf dies recently and hadn't used them yet so thought it was a good opportunity. I smooshed a couple of Distress Oxides for the green (Mowed Lawn & Pine Needles) and swiped a regular Distress (Rusty Hinge) for the rust.

Really need to try to play along with this fun challenge more often.  The team always has such great creations.
Thanks for stopping by.  Always appreciate the comments.

rad retro

Our Seize the Birthday challenge this week was chosen by Jules and it's retro! Always fun. I love typewriters but don't have a typewriter stamp so borrowed one from a friend. I think of this colour combo and big stripes as being retro so thought it would make a good background. I tried to find a marker that matched the blue paper but nothing was quire right so I paper pieced it.  The sentiment was printed off the computer and then I stamped around it.

Be sure to stop by the blog and give some crafty love to our Surprise Party Guest Karen, previous winner Nance, and the rest of the design team.  Hope you're able to play along with us!

cute critters

At Seize the Birthday this week, JoAnn is getting us to play with cute critters.  I have to admit I'm not usually a critter person but I do have a cute little shark die that I had never used and some new ocean dies... so that all made the task a little less daunting. Snagged a bunch of patterned paper and pulled together this little underwater scene.

Hope you can play along with us! Please be sure to head over to the blog to welcome our new Surprise Party Guest Karen Rogers and previous winner Darnell.  The design team has some adorable creations to check out too!

Hope you can join in the fun this week! Thanks so much for stopping by.

tic tac toe

Happy challenge day crafty friends! Lucky me - it's my turn to pick the topping at Seize the Birthday. I was trying to be creative so I came up with a tic tac toe board. Pick a straight line in any direction (horizontal, vertical or diagonal) and incorporate those three things on your card.

I went diagonal from lower left to top right. Not a surprise as I love CAS and slim line. I did a mini slim line for this card. These dies were a recent purchase and I thought the tall present would go really well on a slimline card. The colours on the gift were made using Distress Oxides.

Thanks so much to Julia Aston for being a great Surprise Party Guest over the last couple of months. We welcome Bonnie as our previous winner guest this week. Be sure to head to the blog for all of the details and give some crafty love to the rest of the team for their terrific creations.

fantastic fruit

Happy Thursday crafty friends and welcome to July! We are finally getting some hot weather here and I love it. It's time for another Seize the Birthday challenge and this time, Colleen has picked fruits for the theme. I don't have a lot of fruit stuff so I decided to have them be more of an accessory instead of the main part. I love these fun Happy Hour drink dies. I couldn't find the ice cube die from that set so had to improvise with the negative of a mesh die from another set (which I can't remember the name of). The drink and fruit colours are courtesy of Distress Oxides.

Head over to  the blog to give our Surprise Party Guest Julia, previous winner Fran, and the rest of the DT some crafty love for their spectacular creations. Hope you can play along with us.

sensational stars

Happy Thursday crafty friends.  So hard to believe it's the end of June! It seemed to fly by for me. It's time for another Seize the Birthday challenge and this time, Cathy has picked stars for the theme. I recently got this die set and decided that would be the perfect way to add a star to my card.  I also recently got some Distress Mica sprays so I used those too.

Head over to  the blog to give our Surprise Party Guest Julia, previous winner Chris, and the rest of the DT some crafty love for their spectacular creations. Hope you can play along with us.

double stencilling

Happy June crafty friends! We have a fun challenge at Seize the Birthday this week thanks to Barbara. It's double stencilling... I was nervous to try it (because I hadn't done it before) but it ended up turning out really well.  If you want a demo, check out this video. I realized that a more open stencil was best underneath and a smaller/finer/more detailed one was best over top. The bottom stencil is from the Hero Arts Petals duo and the upper one is Tim Holtz Splash.

June means time for a new Surprise Party Guest and for the next two months, it's the terrific Julia Aston. Be sure to give her, and the rest of the DT, some crafty love for their stunning creations over on the blog.

Have a terrific day and a wonderful upcoming weekend.

magnificent metallics

Ashwini has picked the theme of metallics for our Seize the Birthday challenge this time around.  My first card was completely different and didn't I didn't love it. So I went back to one of my standby techniques - alcohol inks. Much happier with this.

Be sure to stop by the blog to see the marvelous creations from the rest of the team as well as Surprise Party Guest Jolanda and previous winner, Johanna.
