So totally fabulous

By now, you have likely heard that the fabulous Cath Evaldson is leaving Moxie Fab World.   Big pouty sad face :( . So myself and a couple hundred (!!!) other crafty bloggers have got together to pay tribute to her.  If you are following the very long list of participants, you will have hopped here from Kathi Rerek's blog.

I always got a lot of inspiration from Cath on Moxie Fab World, be it from the Tuesday Trigger, Trend Watch or Oh My Moxie Fab.  She was always a reliable source for trendy and classic inspiration.  In April 2011, I was lucky enough to be Moxie Fabber of the Week (you can read all about my reaction here).  I felt like that was huge recognition for me and really appreciate Cath for that acknowledgment.  I was lucky enough to meet Cath when I was at CHA earlier this year… so great to finally meet the fabulous person behind the fabulous inspiration.

Susan R. Opel, myself and Cath Evaldson

I'm in the middle of a crazy amount of homework right now but managed to whip up this 5 minute quickie to honour Cath.

Not sure what else I can say to Cath other than thank you so much for everything... and all the best to you in the future.  You will be missed. xoxoxo

Next on the hop is Heather Campbell!  A big thanks to all of the organizers & admins of the blog hop too - Keren Baker, Taheerah Atchia and Virginia Lu.  :)

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a Moxie fab weekend.

Party Bubble

Hi again!  Weird title I know... once you look at the card it will be self explanatory!  One of my challenges to myself is coming up with unique titles for my blog posts... I think I succeeded this time.

Playing along with another challenge... Speech Bubble Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  I have such a hard time with birthday cards (weird, I know) so thought I would challenge myself to do a speech bubble birthday card.

I hope you like it!  I have so many of these little bags that I never use... happy I could use one up on this card.

Thanks for stopping by and enjoy your day.

Happy Sunday!  To those celebrating Easter with their families, hope you are having a great day.  No big celebrations here but we are grateful for a long weekend full of sunshine.  It's a quiet weekend full of catching up on *stuff*.  Have been out in my garden... even pulling weeds is therapeutic if it's done in the sunshine. :)  I *may* have gone to the nursery yesterday to buy some plants to fill the vacancies in my garden.  Buying plants is also therapeutic... almost as therapeutic as buying craft supplies. ;)

As you may know, I am a *wee* bit addicted to washi tape so I am using it to play along with the Emphasize the Negative Challenge in the Moxie Fab World (since I already played along with the washi challenge!).  Pretty CAS this time... left the photo a bit dark so you can see the score lines down the side of the white.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous day.

Live Colo(u)rfully

Happy Saturday!  Hope you are having a great weekend so far!  I'm looking forward to catching up on life this weekend, maybe get out into the garden. Hoping for sunshine!

Playing along with Chevron Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  Thought I would build my own chevrons using some triangles.  I punched out some squares, cut them in half on the diagonal and adhered them down to make these big, bold chevrons.  Hope you like them!

I always wish there was a stamp that spelled colour the *right* way... hee, hee. Hence my blog title... ;)

Have a great day!  Hope you get some time to relax and get crafty!
Thanks so much for stopping by.

You colo(u)r my world

Happy Saturday all... hope your weekend is going well so far.  No complaints for me as I had yesterday off as a flex day.  Love my three day weekends.  Managed to go to yoga for the first time in two months... oh boy, did I need that!  Must not let it go so long until the next class.

I feel like my mojo is a little lacking these days so thought I would jump-start it by doing a challenge card before tackling some publication submissions.  This is "2 for 1" card.  I'm playing along with the Cool Shades challenge over at Paper Smooches Sparks (see colours below) and the Camera Craze Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.  I love this sentiment but always think it looks funny without the 'u' in colour.  Plus, my spell check always underlines 'color' to say it's incorrect.  Hee, hee.  Couple of notes about the card: there is Diamond Glaze on the camera lens (didn't show up well in the photo) and I adhered the base of the clip right to the card and popped up the other side so I could put the ribbon in. It's how a clip would normally be on a clip board so I figure it works!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!  Hope you have time to get crafty.

A-type-ical

Hello!  It's been a while.  I was crazy busy the first half of July and now that things have quieted down, so has the crafting.  Just needed some time to catch up on the 'regular life' stuff.  I really wanted to get back to my craft table and needed a challenge to light a fire under my mojo.  I picked the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger - Type Hype (see image below).  Well, I think the fire is more like some embers because I don't totally love this card, but I think it's got some fun colours.  This is an atypical card for me in that there are stickers (which I rarely, I mean rarely, use) and no stamping (gasp!).

Thanks so much for stopping by and hope you are having a great week.

Growing in Unity - Go

Welcome to the Friday finale for my fabulous Growing in Unity week!  Thanks so much for stopping by every day this week.  I've had a lot of fun and I hope you have too.  For my final Unity travel card, I've chosen the sentiment from go.see.do. and the compass rose from Direction of Your Heart.  Also playing along with Unity's Friends with Flair.  I'm also going to throw this into the Moxie Fab World Hooked on Hexagons Challenge.

Hope you've enjoyed my creations this week.  Be sure to comment on all my posts from this week so you have a chance to win two Unity Itty Bittys of your choice (you have an amazing 381 to choose from)! You have until midnight Pacific time on Saturday July 21st to comment.  I will choose a winner (using Random.org) sometime on Sunday the 22nd.  A huge thank you to Unity for giving me this fun and fabulous opportunity this week.

Have a great day and a wonderful weekend.

happy place

A quick little post for a quick little card.  Life seems to be crazy busy right now (or you know me, I would start babbling on about something).  One of my friends is going through a tough time this week so wanted to send her a card.  Hope it puts a smile on her face.  Will be throwing this in for the Gingham Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and for Paper Crafts' Gallery Idol  - Encouragement, just for fun.

Hope your week is going well.  Still enjoying the sunshine here.
Thanks for stopping by.

Trigger revisited

Well, it's rare, but I actually came up with a second card for this week's Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger (see yesterday's card).  I used the colours and the leaf pattern as inspiration and kept it super CAS.  I realized that the leaves from the Reflections set from Paper Smooches would work perfectly to mimic the pattern.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Sunday.

Warm Saturday

I'm trying to entice the sun to come out by making this warm card.  It's cool and pouring here...  This card is for the latest Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger (see below).  I love these simple, crisp, geometric and colourful designs from from Orla Kiely.  Jill introduced me to these designs and I fell in love so had to play along with the trigger.  I was inspired by one of the patterns and some of the colours.  I tried to incorporate some yellow in here too but it just wouldn't work.  I just got some new paper from Basic Grey (Konnichiwa) which has this lovely "Orla-style" leaf pattern in it.  It seems to me I've been saying that a lot lately ("I just got some new paper").... I think I have a problem.

I'll be sending this card to a colleague whose husband just had surgery for cancer.  It's been a tough road so I hope this cheers her up.

Hope you are having a great weekend so far.  Thanks for stopping by.

Winter smiles

Blue ranks just above pink in colours I don't use very much/not that fond of.  To challenge myself, I thought I would play along with the Cure for the Winter Blues Challenge in the Moxie Fab World, which says to use navy in an innovative way.  This also works for the Hero Arts Flower Challenge this month.  So my cure for the winter blues is a winter smile.  :)  Smiling right now cause the winter snow we got on Sunday was just a skiff and melted right away!

I don't know if this is innovative way to use navy... just decided to let it speak for itself and then added a little whisper of red (because I can).  No matter what I did with that red floss, it wouldn't stay where I put it so I left it skewed (because I can).

Hope you enjoy your upcoming weekend.  I know I'm looking forward to it.  Mine is lasting three days so that is another reason to smile. :D
Thanks for stopping by.  Always appreciate it.

23 February 2012

hey there

It's been forever since I played along with the Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger, but after seeing these fabulous cards from my girls Jill and Cheiron, had to play along with this week's challenge (see photo below).  Plus, I have the perfect stamp for this challenge.  I was going to stamp a little blue bird somewhere but had to 'step away from the card' because I couldn't figure out where to put it.

This is the Home Sweet Home Tuesday Trigger:

I love that the ruler tape came from one of my favourite stores, Anthropologie.  Just wish there was one here... probably best for my bank account that there isn't.  ;)

Hope you have a great Friday and a fabulous weekend.  Thanks for stopping by.

Shut the front door! I'm Moxie Fab ?!?!?!?

(if you are looking for my challenge, it's here)

If you haven't heard, I'm the Moxie Fabber of the Week! Yes, it's true... lil' me. I'm still stunned by the craziness of it all.

Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net

I have to relay the little story of when I found out. It was a Tuesday morning, I had just crawled out of bed, made coffee, had a little morning chit chat with my hubby (I'm not a morning person so I don't say much) and then sat down with said coffee to check my email. Well, I almost spilled/spewed my coffee and fell off the couch when I saw the email from Cath Evaldson inviting me. I don't think I've ever been that excited so early in the morning! My hubby looked at me after my exclamation and wondered what I was babbling about. "Moxie faba wah huh?" After I regained my composure and relayed the story, he was thrilled and gave me big congratulatory hug and kiss. I'm still blown away... absolutely thrilled and honoured.Free Smiley Courtesy of www.millan.net

So what to post for a card today? My style is generally clean and simple and this is a good example of it.

It was publication reject for Go To Sketches but I love it (and I did get two cards accepted so can't complain!).

Thanks to Cath for deciding I was Moxie Fab and thanks so much to all of my blog readers. I always feel so honoured when you stop by. Every comment puts a smile on my face. Stamping and card making are my true passions and I'm thrilled to be able to share my love of this craft through this blog. I started this blog as part of my instructor gig and now it has just become something to share my passion.

Have an absolutely wonderful day. I think I will. :)
Glenda
