Paper Crafts & Scrapbooking Magazine Special Thanks! Blog Hop

Wow... not really sure what to say here today.  Paper Crafts Magazine has been such force in the paper crafting world and I am sad that it will soon be no longer.  However, I believe we should celebrate the fabulous entity and the amazing people that are Paper Crafts Magazine!

First off... you should have arrived here from Brenda Weaver's blog... secondly, here is the card I created.  My mojo is a little rusty these days as I haven't been crafting due to grad school so hope you like it! (In retrospect - I should have done a martini card - would have been far more appropriate!  LOL).

I going to try to keep this short and sweet but I do want to talk about some of the highlights of my relationship with Paper Crafts Magazine:

• The relationship really started when I won World Card Making Day in the fall of 2010.  Can't tell you how giddy I was. Here's the card.
• Getting chosen Moxie Fabber of the Week in the spring of 2011 was pretty fabulous too. 
• Going to CHA in January of 2013 was so amazing as I got to meet the fabulous Paper Crafts ladies, the Go-To Girls as well so many other amazing crafters
• Just about fell off the couch when I got the email I was going to be a cover girl in July 2013.  Pretty freakin' cool.

I have to say, the best thing about this magazine, for me, is the relationships and amazing friendships it has facilitated and the opportunities it created for me.  I am humbled and honoured and I thank all of you soooo much for everything you done.  Your genuine passion and enthusiasm for the craft always shone through!

Making my day bright

Happy Monday!  Hope everyone had a fabulous weekend.  It was a rare semi-quiet weekend here so we were very thankful after being crazy busy for the last month.  The sun made an appearance too which meant morning coffee on the deck.  One of my favourite things.

I don't have a card to share today but I do have some good news.  One of my cards is on the cover of the Paper Crafts July/August 2013 issue!

Mine is the top one with the clouds, using a fabulous Hero Arts stamp.  I am thrilled to share the cover with Go-To-Gals Teri Anderson and Kimberly Crawford.  I've had the honour of meeting both of these sweet women so that makes it even more special.

Make a Wish

Happy weekend everyone!  Hope it's going well so far.

I'm doing a really quick post.  I'm being a glutton for punishment and throwing my hat in the ring for Paper Crafts' Gallery Idol.  I told myself I wouldn't enter again... but alas, here I am.  The theme is kid/teen birthday.  What? Give your head a shake Glenda. Ugh... definitely the most difficult type of card for me to make.  Remind me again why I'm doing this?  I could mention some names that persuaded me to do this but I won't lay blame right now.  Hee, hee.  I love space and was definitely in space mode recently with Canadian Astronaut Chris Hadfield being so involved in social media while on the International Space Station.  The pictures and videos he posted were phenomenal.  Anyway, that made me think to do a space card.  For some reason, I couldn't get the colours to really come out on this photo so my apologies.  There is glitter mist on the background and Diamond Glaze on the helmet and the space ship glass.

A little bit country

Happy Sunday!  Hope you are having a great weekend!  No complaints here... after a busy few weekends, I was happy to have a bit of time to relax this weekend.  We also celebrated Earth Hour last night by curling up in front of the fire with a glass of wine.  Fabulous.  Spring is in full swing here too... which reminds me, must get out to my garden to weed.  Weeds seem to love our wet winters here.

Just a quick card today to play along with the Paper Crafts March Gallery Challenge - Country Fresh.  I'm not usually into the country theme but do love country elements.  I used chicken wire, gingham, wood, twine and kraft paper on this clean and simple card.

The Contenders Blog Hop

Annette Witherspoon is hosting "The Contenders" Blog Hop.  What it is? The blog hop for those of us who submitted projects to Paper Crafts Magazine, but didn't make it into the publication!  I always find these fun so thought I would play along.  Thanks so much to Annette for hosting!

I'm actually posting a 'double reject' today.  I submitted this one for a May/June sketch and for the July/August 'scenes'.  I'm not usually a 'scene' person but I really like how this turned out. I was lucky enough to get cards in both these issues so I can't complain at all. Always happy to get at least one in.

wonderful washi

Quick card to play along with Paper Crafts' Gallery Challenge this month.  The theme is washi tape! In my head, I'm saying *washi tape* in a sing song voice.  La, la, la... I love and have a few... several... dozens of rolls.  For this card, I created a die cut, stamped a bit, scored a bit, coloured a heart, ripped off some washi and voila!  Hope you like it...

I was nice to have a few minutes to make a challenge card.  Haven't done that for ages!  Just a heads up, you'll be seeing a lot of washi tape around here over the next few days!  Hope you enjoy it.

Happy Sunday everyone and happy Memorial Day weekend to my American friends!  Hope you are having a glorious weekend and the sun is shining where you are.  It is shining here (thankfully).  We've had a fabulous weekend so far.

Playing along with a couple of challenges today - the Unity May Challenge (stripes) and the Paper Crafts Gallery Idol (Encouragement).  I really like how this turned out - love the washi, love the travel themed set (go.see.do. - perfect encouragement set) and love the fun layout.  I know the stripes might be a bit of a stretch but I think the chevrons are stripes and the 2 bottom washi pieces are stripes too.  It's called creative license... hee, hee.  I also have congratulate myself for using three (!!!) of my clear buttons.  I would normally not buy them but they come with the Basic Grey solid buttons. I have such a hard time using them but the seemed to work for this. What do you think?

A quick little post for a quick little card.  Life seems to be crazy busy right now (or you know me, I would start babbling on about something).  One of my friends is going through a tough time this week so wanted to send her a card.  Hope it puts a smile on her face.  Will be throwing this in for the Gingham Challenge in the Moxie Fab World and for Paper Crafts' Gallery Idol  - Encouragement, just for fun.
