Outside the Box - Card Maker

{scroll down for my Paper Made Bakery post}

Happy Friday!  Bit of a sad day for me... it's my last official post over at the Card Maker blog.  It's been a wonderful run and I am so grateful that Brooke and Tanya gave me the opportunity.  The team is fantastic and I have give a big thanks to them too!

Since it's the last one I decide to do two cards for the 'Outside the Box', both inspired by two wonderful and talented ladies I met at CHA in January. The first one is inspired by Kimber McGray.

The second one is inspired by Kimberly Crawford.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  I always appreciate the comments.
Hope you are having a great week.
Take care,
Glenda

It only takes one...

One layer that is... Happy Friday!  It's technique time over at Card Maker and I'm up!  I've decided to talk about one layer cards.    I'm sharing a few cards over there and have whipped up one for here too.  In this case, I used washi tape, a window, paper piercing, a marker swish, and flat gems to reduce the bulk.  It's difficult to get a decent 'straight-on' photo of a window card, hence the fingers.

I love one layer cards because they are quick, easy and cheap to mail!

Hope you enjoy the post and thanks so much for stopping by.  Have a great day and a fabulous weekend!

My Favourite Things!

It's my turn for My Favourite Things over at the Card Maker blog.  Can you guess what it is?  Here's a hint...

If you guessed martini, well that is technically right... but the only thing martinis have to do with card making is that sometimes I have one when I'm crafting!  It is washi tape!  You know how much I love washi tape.  I also talk about my other current love, wood veneers.  I'll let you head over to Card Maker to read the whole post but I did want to share my tips for buying washi, as I've been asked about it by a few friends.

Washi tape tips:
  • if you just want to buy a few, get one of each of the rainbow colors in addition to a black and a brown
  • if you are just starting out, stick to basic patterns such as stripes, polka dots, chevrons, grids
  • I tend not to use my solids very much.  I also usually avoid really complex patterns with more than three or four colors.
  • you may find the tape is too transparent and your colored card stock is changing the color of your tape too much.  Just put it on some white card stock, trim the long edges and tear or clip the ends.

If you have any other questions about washi tape, let me know in the comments section.  I'll do my best to reply.  I've pulled together a washi tape inspiration board on Pinterest too!

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful week!
Glenda

Card Maker Blog Hop - Xyron

{this is my second post of the day, scroll down for my Skipping Stones Feature Friday post}

The gals from the Card Maker Blog Team are getting together to play with some goodies from Xyron.  My favourite thing to do with my Xyron Create a Sticker is to use it for glitter!  I decided to run an experiment and put some wood veneers through it.  Well, it was a success!

I likely won't be working on any more Christmas cards for a while (I'm always last minute) but just had to glitter these snowflakes for this project.

Be sure to check out the Xyron blog as well as the rest of the team to see what fabulous creations they have come up with!

Card Maker Blog Hop - Metallic Inspiration

Happy Wednesday and welcome to another Card Maker Blog Hop!  You should have arrived here from Colleen's fabulous blog

The theme is metallics.  I pulled out some metallic mist, cord, embossing powder and card stock and came up with this!  Kept it pretty simple, hope you like it.

Even the lime paper has a shimmer to it and the little gem is sparkly too.  I apologize for the photo... I'm without Photoshop (and watermarks, etc.) as my precious MacBook Pro died on Sunday.  :(  Hoping it can be repaired and thank goodness for backups. If you notice I'm not commenting on blogs much, that's why. It's also the reason for my short blog posts... working on a borrowed machine.

The next stop on the hop is the fantastic Jennie!  Can't wait to see what she came up with!  Hope you enjoy everyone's creations!  Here's the full list:

Thanks so much for stopping by.
