Playing with my Paper Smooches stamps today for the November Guest Designer search (last minute entry - closes later today). I realize, looking at this now, I don't really know what kind of cupcake is green - hee, hee. Mint maybe. ETA - Emily suggested key lime pie - definitely a better choice than mint. Yum! Oh well, creative license and all that. I think our creations would be much less interesting if we stuck to true life colour! To get the candle 'sunk' in, I first stamped the candle right on top of the cupcake but masked over the bottom. The bottom of the candle is paper pieced and then slid into a slit on the cupcake. Doing it this way kept me from having to cut out around the candle wick.
This also works for a couple of Splitcoast Stampers challenges - Clean and Simple #140 (Cupcake) and Hope You Can Cling To #8 (hanging element). If you don't know about the Hope You Can Cling To challenges/breast cancer card drive, check out all the details here. You can win prizes and if you play along with all 34 challenges, you can win BIG prizes. I got all 34 done last year (and did win a prize!). Life is a bit busy right now so I won't be doing them all this year but you should check it out!
Happy Wednesday! Hope you are having a great week. Thanks for stopping by.
Glenda

Oh how adorable!! I have those tiny clothespins but haven't used them yet. You're inspiring me to dig them out now!
ReplyDeleteYou totally cracked me up with what you wrote about green cupcakes. Maybe a mini key lime pie cupcake? Mmmm, how I want one. LOL I love how it's hanging by twine!
ReplyDeleteI think that green cupcake is pistachio!! Cute card, Glenda. :) I love the mini clothespins. Good luck in the PS GD search!
ReplyDeleteno matter green or pink or blue, this cupcake looks adorable! :)
ReplyDeleteReally loving the clothespins! Such a great card!
ReplyDeleteThe way you stamped the cupcake and masked the candle is awesome! I love that it's green, although I would have figured you would have made a red velvet cupcake. :) The twine and clothespins are so cute! BTW, I hope the other (pesky work) search is going well....good luck!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! Great colors...and I think that it could be a Cosmo cupcake from Crumbs...with lime cream cheese frosting. Fun pattern papers too!
